For the second consecutive year, Cantù’s season ends in quarter-final Game 2. Vibo Valentia proved just too strong for Della Rosa’s men. The hosts did try their best but it was all one-way traffic in favour of the regular season champions.

“We played well in the first set, it was tight but in the end the quality and experience of Vibo emerged – said coach Della Rosa – We did extremely well but a couple of mistakes cost us the set. Then, Vibo gained confidence, they attacked better in the second while we were not as good in the blocking department. And then our setter injured himself, and unfortunately our back-up setter had been out injured for about ten days so we found ourselves in a difficult situation. Groppi did what he could though he couldn’t jump, but it’s obvious that winning against Vibo like that is extremely complicated”.
