This win arrives in the 50th anniversary of Cucne Lube, leader in the world in Kitchens and home furnitures, a great way to celebrate 50 years of great job.
It was a very balanced first set, with Trento who stepped on the court determined to show everybody the’yre not came in Civitanova on vacation. Trento has been in front all set long, having three set points, all killed by Lube, who was great in attack, 56%, with Trento at 41%. Jiri Kovar was the go to guy for Lube, 7 points with 100% and 3 fundamental blocks on Stokr. In the end Lube fought back and grabbed the win in the set 28-26. In second Lube took an early lead, thanks to the power in the serve of Osmany Juantorena and Tsvetan Sokolov, and thanks to some perfect receptions of Jenia Grebennikov. After being in front 18-14, Lube has been trailed until 21-20, but once again a great block of Juantorena on Giannelli gave 4 set points to Lube, with a Jiri Kovar’s ace to finish the set 25-20. It seems done for Civitanova, but Trento never gave up, continuing to fight on every ball. Third set once again it was a balanced one, until the lead for Trento on 18-17, where Angelo Lorenzetti’s team took the fundamental lead with Filippo Lanza and Oleg Antonov in serve, a coupe of great blocks by Sebastian Solè, and a couple of mistakes in attack by Kovar, which gave to Diatec the win 25-18 in third. It seems that Trento in fourth could be able to fight back and force the game to the tie break, but early in the set Lube secured the win, with the fundamental break to 11-6, and Lube never looked back until the win and the explosion of enthusiasm at Eurosuole Forum.
Gianlorenzo Blengini (Cucine Lube Civitanova), who will not be part of the team in next season: “It’s crazy, these are my words. I didn’t thought to this moment until few play before the last in fourth set, and now the sensation is strange, like emptyness and great satisfaction. We started nervous in first set, but it was normal in these kind of games. On the other hand, they were calm and without pressure. Then we took our rhythm, and we won the game. I want to thank the club and the front office, thant after the disappointing last season gave me the chance to be here once again in this season, giving me this great players to coach. I want to thank all the players who come from the bench, they were great to be part of the team for the team and the locker room, without being nervous in stay alot of time on the bench. We are a great group, I’m proud of all the team. I thank all the players who did an oustandig job all season long, it was an extraordinary season”.
Dragan Stankovic (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “This is my third Italian Championship with this jersey, this one probably is the most exciting one, because we won in front of our fans. I remember the word of President Simona Sileoni at the start of the season, who said that would be great to win the championship to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lube. We are happy to gave this satisfacitnio to the resident, I want to thank all my teammates, all great”.
Micah Christenson (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “It’s incredible, I’m so happy I won the Italian championship, it was a fantastic season, a season I will never forget in all my career”.
Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “It was a tough series despite the 3-0, versus Trento who never gave up, especially in Game 2. This is a team win, it’s my first championship with Lube, it has been a great season”.
Tsvetan Sokolov (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “I want to dedicate this win to my family, my wife and my sons, it’s a great satisfaction to win this championship with this jersey. It has been a great season, we won the title in the better way possible”.
Jiri Kovar (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “A great satisfaction to win my third championship with the jersey of Lube, after Milano in 2012 and Perugia in 2014, we finally being able to play and win in front of our fans. It was a tough game tonight, we all gave our best to reach this goal we had since the start of the season”.
Klemen Cebulj (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “This championship is for my family, who has always being by my side all season long. So let’s enjoy this win, as we did with the Italian Cup, enjoy it because we deserved it”.
Angelo Lorenzetti (Diatec Trentino): “We don’t have regrets in this series. Lube constantly discovered our limits. In this week we tried to recover from the gap between them and us, but I don’t know if we did it. The guys had the right approach, they fought until the end, giving everything on the court. About todayps game, we weren’t able to profite of the breaks we had, but as I said, I cannot say anything to the players. Sometimes I screamed at them for this, but on today I saw they gave all they had. Lube forced us to play our game play, and in this week we change it, showing that we can be able to go beyond our limits”.
