LPR Piacenza is the first finalist of Unipolsai Superleague Playoff Challenge Final Four. At Agsm Forum in Verona Alberto Giuliani’s team won in a great comeback versus Gi Group Monza, keeping high the rhythm in second, third and fourth set. In first set Monza was great, great percentages in attack (58%), but starting from second, Piacenza fought back, once again with a great performance by Fernando Hernandez (MVP of the game, 22 points, 2 aces and 1 block) together with Trevor Clevenot (17 points and 1 ace for the frenchman), a double offensive threat for Lpr who put in trouble the defence of Monza. Gi Group has troubles also in attack, impacting often on blocks of Piacenza, without finding rhythm. So this was the end of the season for Gi Group, a positive season, with Miguel Angel Falasca’s team who reached fo rthe first time in franchise history, the playoffs. On the other hand Piacenza will wait for second semifinal, to know the name of their opponents, after the semifinal between Calzedonia Verona and Bunge Ravenna.
Iacopo Botto (Gi Group Monza): “We made alot of mistakes in attack and in the serve, they are a great team, if you give them the chance to take advantage of your mistakes, it’s very difficult. We have the consciousness of our strength in this season. We stepped up, we are serene, we gained experience. thanks to our fans who cmae until here to support us, Lpr deserved the final, they were better than us”.
Alberto Giuliani (LPR Piacenza): “It was an high level game, especially in sideout. I’m happy of our performance, we had good numbers, I’m proud of this. In this final part of the season it’s not easy to save energies, but we are a team of fighters, and when we fell the smell of a big final, we give our best.
