Sometimes the heart is not enough. In front of the enthusiastic crowd of Palazzetto dello Sport in Monza, Miguel Àngel Falasca’s Gi Group Monza left on court the dreams of semifinals, losing 0-3 Game 2 of Quarterfinals versus Diatec Trentino, a team who defeated Monza for the third time in 10 days, deserving the access to semifinals, where they will face Sir Safety Conad Perugia, in a “classic” of Unipolsai Superleague. Despite the score, it was a good game for Monza, who put everything on the court on tonight. It was a clear win for Trento in the first set, 25-18 in favour of Angelo Lorenzetti’s team, but in the second Monza fought back thanks to Hirsch and Fromm. But the quality and the experience of Trento were strong, with Stokr, Solè and Van de Voorde almost perfect in attack, with Simone Giannelli once again great in setting his players. Mvp Tine Urnaut was the real go to guy for Trento, always present in the crunch time of the match. Trento won second set 25-23 and third 25-22, clinching the semifinal’s spot versus Perugia, playing with the home court advantage.

Christian Fromm (Gi Group Monza): “We were great in reaching playoffs, thanks to the team, the coaching staff and the club. On tonight Trento was better than us and deserved the access to semifinal. We were there, but we missed a little of clarity of mind in the key moments. Now let’s go with Play Off Challenge, we want to play in Europe, the season is not finished and we are motivated to play until the end”.

Tine Urnaut (Diatec Trentino): “We expected a tough game, and it was a tough game. Monza did not play very well in first set, but in second and third they fought back and it was tough for us. We were good in react in difficulties, having patience and closing the key plays in the crunch time of the game. How will be versus Perugia? Will be difficult they are one of the best teams of the tournament, but now we have to think first to Cev Cup quarterfinals versus Piacenza, we want to be motivated”.
