A championship (in 2017-2018), three Italian Cups, three Italian Super Cups are some of the successes achieved in Italy by the middle blocker Fabio Ricci with the Sir Safety Perugia shirt. An experience, the one in Umbria, which lasted from 2017 to the end of last season. Five long years in which the boy born in Faenza on 11 July 1994 has grown to become one of the best exponents of his role in the Italian championship.
With the blue shirt he won the gold medal at the European championships last year. Precisely that triumph that a year ago ignited the spirits and filled with satisfaction all Italian volleyball fans.
Now for Ricci the experience with the Emma Villas Aubay Siena shirt begins. The middle blocker made his first statements as a player of the Sienese team before the last collegiate match with the Italian national team and the commitments in the blue jersey in the Nations League: “When I learned of the team idea of this club and that Siena therefore wanted to set up a respectable team I said yes – those are his words. – The negotiation was completed very quickly in the end. Ricci is just 28 years old (he will have them in a few days). Yet he already seems like a veteran if you think of the many important matches he has played both in the Italian league and with the Italian national team: “Characteristically – so Ricci describes himself – it takes me a while to get to grips with it, but when you get over that initial moment I am a person who gives all of himself for others and who becomes attached to them. I also like stability in relations with clubs, look also at my career: I spent four years in Ravenna, then five in Perugia. I don’t like changing teams every year and spinning like a top. I have always tried to marry projects that I liked and in which to place trust. I like those companies that show me something lasting ”.
