There are many snapshots of this World Cup. Many frames, many slides to jealously keep in the drawer of the best memories for the fans and for the Club. With the exception of Mengozzi, all the Bianconeri took to the field to make their contribution to the victory.

Out of the seven players awarded in the ideal “six plus one”, six are players from the two SuperLega Credem Banca clubs: for Trentino Itas, Podrascanin (best centre-back), Michieletto (spiker) and Kaziyski (opposite) were awarded, while Perugia side Flavio (central), Leon (spinner) and Giannelli were elected, the latter being awarded both as best setter and as MVP of the Club World Cup.

Today will be the day of the return for the group, the day of the long ocean voyage that will bring the team back to Perugia with the cup. The return is also underway for Trentino Itas, with a silver medal around its neck that brings with it a small dose of bitterness for the only caressed trophy, but also a great awareness of its own means, as Captain Kaziyski and his companions I’m played with rivals until the last ball.

Yesterday, a historic day for the club and for sport in Perugia, the words of the protagonists remain imprinted.

Roberto Russo: “It’s always nice to win, especially after such a difficult Final. I’m happy for the team, it was a tough game, in the third set we were good at always staying there with our heads and recovering without ever giving up. I congratulate Trento who played very well. We are enjoying this medal, but there is still a lot to try to win this year”.

The MVP of the Club World Cup Simone Giannelli: “I am very happy to have contributed to bringing something to Perugia that it had never won before and to have written a small page of its history. It was very tough, against Trento it’s always a battle, they put us in difficulty. I’m proud of my teammates, the staff and the club, we’re building a good mentality and this is a truly team trophy. World champion with the national team and with the club? It’s not bad actually.”

Massimo Colaci: “It’s difficult to find the right words, it’s a great emotion, an important title that arrived with great suffering after an intense match and with a thousand difficulties. I won the world championship nine years ago, feeling this emotion again is wonderful and I’m overjoyed for all of us. At 37, still bringing home gold medals is always a great satisfaction, in sport you always have to show that you can still compete at these levels and I’m really happy”.
