Fresh from winning the European Golden League and the Challenger Cup with Turkey, and then coming out of the European Championships in the Round of 16 with his head held high, today Adis Lagumdzija, the new opposite of Cucine Lube Civitanova, allowed himself a blitz at the Eurosuole Forum for the presentation official. This morning the athlete met journalists and fans on the playing field, for the first time as a red and white striker. Lagumdzija will join his national team in the next few days ahead of the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Japan.

Winner of the “Andrej Kuznetsov” Award as the best striker of the last Regular Season, thanks to his 419 points in 22 games (85 sets) as Modena’s attacking midfielder, and star of the 2023 Cev Cup raised to the sky with the yellows, the classy giant 99, 211 cm tall, wants to shine with the Cucine Lube Civitanova, with which he signed a two-year contract this summer. With important experiences in SuperLega Credem Banca, with Monza, Piacenza and Modena, the opposite born in Bosnia, naturalized Turkish and with a Croatian passport, can fit perfectly into Chicco Blengini’s group.

Lagumdzija is originally from Sarajevo, but moved with his family to Turkey where he made his debut for Galatasaray in 2016/17. From the following year he wore the Arkas Izmir shirt, showing off with three excellent seasons. In 2020 he arrived in Italy, at Vero Volley Monza, taking the Brianza team to the Scudetto semi-final, and then moving the following year to Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and remaining in Emilia in the following tournament, but at Valsa Group Modena, sending the fans into ecstasy with points.

In 2014 Lagumdzija obtained Turkish citizenship with the right to defend the red and white national team. With the youth team he won a bronze and the MVP title in the European Cadet Under 19 Championship in 2017. With the first team he achieved a silver at the European Golden League in 2018, and then improved and won the same event in 2019, in 2021 and 2023. The last ring, in the summer, gold in the Challenger Cup.

Simona Sileoni (president Lube Volley):

“We have been keeping an eye on Adis for some time, a big player in our market. Faced with an offensive player of his effectiveness we could not remain indifferent, he embodies the ideal figure in attack in our project even for his 24 years. The scores speak for themselves, his exploits helped Modena win the CEV Cup and his points rewarded him as king of the bombers in the Regular Season, while for Turkey his contribution was important in lifting trophies this summer, even in the surrender of the Volleyball Challenger Cup accounts, with 21 points of which 7 in the tie break. Thanks to him, his national team will play in the 2024 VNL. Among other things, with us in the Regular Season, Adis was decisive for Modena’s victory at the PalaPanini.

Beppe Cormio (dg Lube Volley): Adis has been a passion of mine for five years. I started courting him in Turkey in 2018/19, then various vicissitudes meant that he changed teams often. This year we spoke early, I knew there would be a lot of competition. His was an excellent season in Modena and the Emilian club had an interest in keeping him. The deal ended positively and the opposite went from one large company to another equally large and prestigious company. The standard of all the things a high level athlete needs will also be found here. He will know how to assert himself and will have the attention he received last year in his home team.

Chicco Blengini (coach Cucine Lube Civitanova):

“Adis presents himself alone, as an experienced player due to his experience, almost a ‘veteran’, but he is young. We can already place him among the best in his role. In my opinion he is destined to grow further and be among the strongest at the world, if not the strongest.

Adis Lagumdzija (opposite Cucine Lube Civitanova):

“For my 24 years I can say that I already have a fair amount of experience in the world of great volleyball thanks to four seasons spent in Turkey and three in Italy, but we can and must always improve. Even if I were 10 years older I would try to improve myself. The Super League is like the NBA for basketball and by playing with the strongest it is easier to raise the level. Last season I insisted on service and I’m sure that at Lube, one of the best clubs ever, I will grow further. I thank the club that believes in me, I want to help win titles.
