This evening, Friday 13 January 2023, the docufilm entitled “An extraordinary year” will be broadcast on Rai 2 at 23.40. It is a tribute to the memorable feat of the men’s national team, capable of winning the European Championships in 2021 and graduating World Champion in 2022 and to Davide Mazzanti’s ride of the blues in the European Championships won in the final against Serbia, up to first place in the VNL and the iridescent bronze in 2022.

The documentary, curated by Jacopo Volpi and directed by Mario Maellaro and made by A.F. Project with the patronage and co-production of the Italian Volleyball Federation, wants to be an opportunity to tell the blue men and women capable of achieving extraordinary results in just two sports seasons. The story retraces all the stages of this extraordinary year of Italian volleyball in a crescendo of emotions, starting from the disappointment after the Tokyo Olympic Games, passing through the splendid victories at the European Championships and the women’s VNL to then finish with the magnificent success of the men’s national team by Ferdinando De Giorgi in the world championship in Poland.

For the viewer it will be an immersive journey like never before within two teams with similar stories that intertwine with each other. The docufilm, in fact, was made using published and unpublished archive material between breathtaking challenges, friendship, fears and tears that will lead the viewer to know the stories and lives of the boys and girls who brought Italy with their deeds at the top of world volleyball.

Appointment therefore on January 13 on Rai 2 after the broadcast “A Tutto Calcio” with the docufilm “An extraordinary year” dedicated to the Italian national volleyball teams which will then also be visible on Rai Sport and on demand on RaiPlay.
