A (sometimes overused) quote from the song “Amici Mai” by Antonello Venditti says: “Certain loves don’t end, they make immense turns and then return”. But few times like this is it truly indicated. After more than 11 years and a promise exchanged when saying goodbye, Andrea Galliani returns to Pool Libertas Cantù. A spiker with a wealth of experience between the first and second national series which places him among the most expert players in the category, and certainly an important addition to President Ambrogio Molteni’s team. “Gallo” had already played in the shadow of the bell tower of San Paolo from 2009 to 2012, winning the first historic promotion to Serie A2, and the first (and so far only) relegation of the Cantù team from the cadet category.

Coach Francesco Denora comments on the new arrival as follows: “The arrival of Andrea Galliani could be the President’s Christmas gift (Ambrogio Molteni, ed.). If the opportunity arises to sign a player like him, it should definitely be taken. His experience and technical qualities can truly be an added value for the second part of the season. He can give us a very important contribution in attack, blocking and serving. And then, despite the many seasons behind him, he still has a great enthusiasm, which I hope becomes contagious.”

These, however, are the player’s words: “With Ambrogio (President Molteni, ed.) we promised each other that our paths would cross again at the end of my career. I don’t think this will be my last year, but the promise has been kept. I took this year as a ‘sabbatical’ to finish my Osteopathy studies in Bergamo; but now that I’m caught up with my exams, that I can follow both things, and above all that I miss playing, I willingly accepted the President’s proposal. I know many of the guys who play well, both because we were teammates and because we were opponents, and I consider many of them true friends, so I’m happy to play again. I think Pool Libertas is a good team; probably at this moment he is not in the position in the standings that he was hoped to be in at the start of the championship. I hope to help the team get back to where it deserves. Many teams have equipped themselves to do well, but I find the championship very level: unlike last year, where there was one team clearly dominant compared to the others, I see a very good level. Even the last ones in the ranking are not the so-called ‘mattress teams’, and they could get close.
