Cucine Lube Civitanova will have at least one representative on the field in the Final of the 2023 European Volleyball Championships. Last night, Tuesday 12 September, the Quarter Finals came to a close with the thrilling tie-break victory of Italy’s red and white team Fabio Balaso (40% with 35% perfect receptions) and Mattia Bottolo on the Netherlands coached by his compatriot Roberto Piazza. Tomorrow, Thursday September 14th (9.15pm) at the PalaLottomatica in Rome, the national team led by Fefè De Giorgi will face France, led by coach Andrea Giani, who will rely on the central chef Barthelemy Chinenyeze. The latter will try to block the Azzurri’s ambitions by giving life to a derby between Club mates at Lube. The transalpine team of “Babar” had an easy time (3-0) in the quarterfinals against Romania in Varna and the player registered with Civitanova did his part with 9 points, of which 1 scored from nine meters, 1 from the block and 7 in attack with 78% positivity. In the event of an Italian victory in the Semi-final, Lube will have two of its athletes in the Final, while if the “Galletti” win, on Saturday 16 September in the Capital there will be, at least, one player from the Italian vice-champions to compete for the continental title.

Competing in the other Semi-final, tomorrow at 6pm, will be Poland, who beat Serbia 3-1 yesterday in Bari, and Slovenia, who beat Ukraine in four sets on Monday in Varna, narrowly winning the second and fourth set in a very tight match.
