The fifth and decisive match of the Play Off Scudetto SuperLega Credem Banca 2023 semi-final series between Itas Trentino and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will be played on Tuesday 25 April starting at 6 pm at the BLM Group Arena in Trento. Three days after match 4 in Emilia, which brought the fates of the match back to a draw, we are then back on the pitch in the via Fersina facility for the match which will award the winner access to the Final. Live RAI Sport HD, Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World TV platform.
The Gialloblù are faced with yet another appointment from inside or outside their season: in fact, to continue the race that leads to the Scudetto, a victory is needed, which would allow them to reach the ninth Play Off Final in the history of Trentino Volley. Playing the play-off in front of their fans will offer a small but important advantage, which Angelo Lorenzetti’s team will try to exploit to get the winning point.
“Even before the start of the series we knew that game 5 could be a plausible hypothesis – explained the coach of Itas Trentino when introducing the appointment – . Finding ourselves at 2-2 after having been ahead 2-0 certainly left us with regret, also because some chances in the last two games weren’t exploited properly, but none of us had the illusion that we had already accomplished the most difficult part of the task with the statements of the first two games. What awaits us is a match to be lived to the fullest, in the knowledge that we have done a lot to get this opportunity and that we can put a great team like Piacenza in difficulty, above all if we manage to regain efficiency in attack and especially in the of break points”.
For game 5, the Gialloblù coach will be able to count on the entire squad of fourteen players, who will face the 141st match in the Scudetto Play Offs in the history of Trentino (82 wins and 58 defeats).
Over the course of its nineteen previous participations in the Play Off Scudetto, Trentino Volley has already played sixteen play-off matches, similar to the one awaiting it on Tuesday evening, winning ten of them (the last one on 10 April 2022 at home with Piacenza for the quarterfinals). Between friendly walls, the balance sheet of this type of match tells of ten victories in eleven matches, including those of 2008, 2013 and 2022 over Piacenza, which however was the only one to win a playoff in the then PalaTrento (competition 5 of the 2009 Finale).
