Ortona embraces the opposite Diego Cantagalli, who had already worn the white blue shirt of the fearless in the 2020/2021 season.

Born in 1999 and 203 centimeters tall, Diego Cantagalli is an opposite who certainly needs no introduction. Son of art, Diego immediately shakes off the legacy of a heavy surname by embarking on a winning path that will lead him to also wear the senior national team shirt.

The path in the world of volleyball inevitably begins early, for the young Cantagalli and at the age of 13 he is already at the disposal of the noble Lube of Macerata, where he competes in the youth team also playing in Serie D. After two seasons and Diego Cantagalli’s career takes ‘elevator playing the 2014/2015 season with the Paoloni Appignano Volleyball shirt. Here he will remain for three seasons accompanying the Marche team first in Serie B2 and then in Serie B Unica.

The first time comes thanks to the radars of Club Italia, which considers him among the most promising young Italians and leads him to play in a championship in Serie A2. With the selection, Cantagalli disputes an excellent championship. The opposite does so well that Lube Macerata wants him back at home to make him occupy the second opposite box in the Superlega. With Lube, Diego will win both the Italian and European titles. In the same year, silver also arrives with the Italian national team at the Under 21 World Cup.
