The first home defeat of the season left no consequences in the home of ErmGroup San Giustino: the merits of the rediscovered OmiFer Palmi were indisputable (its technical potential is first-rate) and therefore we can talk about anything, except a thrown opportunity to the nettles by the blue and white. Even libero and captain Davide Marra fully confirms what has just been underlined: “Nothing to complain about Palmi’s victory – he says – because their players came to San Giustino full of energy and determination: the success is therefore legitimate. We were good in many situations, then our opponents made sure that we were no longer able to put them in difficulty. The fourth set was good: we reacted after what happened in the second and third, fighting until the end and remaining point to point. Congratulations therefore to Palmi, even if we came out with our heads held high: the team gave everything it could and therefore there is really little to regret.” A superior Palmi especially on the wall? “I say I had that little bit more on all the fundamentals. Usually, if that had been the case on one or two, the partial scores could have been different, or we could have come a little closer to the tie-break. I repeat the concept: Palmi played better than us – we must admit it – and in volleyball when you play better then you win.” Was there any flaw on your part, without taking anything away from the Calabrian team? “We played according to our prerogatives. It is normal that in practice nothing has changed, in the sense that – like two-three weeks ago – we remain a team that still needs to grow and improve: in this respect, there are ample margins to be exploited and I think that the path that we are taking is the right one. So I work with my head down and a lot of humility.” The internal defeat after six consecutive victories did not take away the smile and optimism from the environment and this is an important observation for the rest of the season. “He left a smile because, as we have been doing from the beginning, we must look on our side. We know we can improve and this match made us understand that we have to continue working. The positive streak of results has been important: it is giving us the opportunity to work better, but we must not divert attention from our objective, which is to get to the gym every day and insist on improving our game.” Now you are called to redemption and away, with Shedirpharma Sorrento which is certainly not a malleable “customer”.
