It’s the first day of school for Belluno Volleyball: the bell rings. School that is always the same: the Spes Arena. And the “professor” hasn’t changed either: coach Gian Luca Colussi, supported by his assistant Roberto Malaguti, by the athletic trainer Sergio Sartori and, in general, by a large staff enriched by about ten people.

HUNGER – If anything, it is the class that has profoundly changed: compared to last spring, several new students have taken their seats on the desks – or rather, on the parquet floor. Nine, to be exact. But none of them are repeaters. On the contrary, everyone is called to raise the performance of a group which, as Colussi specified, must have different qualities. One, however, in particular: «The combativeness. It is a feature that we cannot ignore. We are hungry and have the firm will to fight for every ball».

IN ADVANCE – The whole club was at the meeting – from the president Sandro Da Rold to the deputies Stefano Da Rold and Andrea Gallina, passing through the general manager Franco Da Re – and also various enthusiasts: «The sensations are positive, there it’s a beautiful emotion – continues the coach -. Yes, we are excited to restart. Suffice it to say that the boys started working out in the gym half an hour early. On the other hand, the championship ended in April: the break was really long and everyone couldn’t wait to get back to playing volleyball».

PATIENCE – Among those who have crossed the boot (Orto left Sicily, Antonaci from Puglia) and those who arrived by plane (Bartosz Bucko from Poland), there is no shortage of news: «The workforce is renewed and, for this, it will also be necessary to have a bit of patience. Belluno is a “caliente” square, which wishes to see important and top-level volleyball. And there will be some pressure. The players, however, know this. As they know that it is necessary to run very fast immediately. We will have to be ready for the official debut».

GRADUALITY AND PROGRESSIVENESS – The pre-season program is black on white: «In consultation with the athletic trainer Sartori and with Matteo De Cecco, who will arrive a little later, we will follow two principles – concludes Colussi -. That of gradualness and progressivity. In the first three, four workouts we’re not going to jump. And we won’t put too much strain on the shoulder: volleyball is a sport that can be exhausting and we want to avoid problems right away.” The rhinos are on the march.
