Born and raised in the Sorrento Peninsula, the opposite Gabriele Grimaldi will still wear the green and white shirt.

You are among the few confirmations in a completely revolutionized roster. How much desire is there to start again for a season that could see Sorrento among the main protagonists?

“It makes me enormously proud to be able to represent Sorrento and the green-and-white colors around Italy for another year. I chose to marry this project because it represents the continuity of a virtuous path that will be at the starting line of the Serie A championship for the third year in a row. I am sure that we will be able to have our say, reaching the top levels of the standings, and trying to take away those satisfactions that in the first two years we only managed to caress. This year the programs are even more ambitious, and this is one of the reasons why I decided to accept even knowing that a season of great sacrifices awaits me: the third national category reaches ever higher levels of competitiveness every year, and it becomes more and more complicated to match sports commitments with work ones. However, the love for this sport wins over everything, and I am strongly motivated to give my contribution to achieve the goals set”.

In the last championship you had Albergati as a team mate: what did he pass on to you, and what technical aspects did you try to make your own?

“In the team we have always had important guns, and as far as my role as opposite is concerned, I always try to learn as much as possible from the shift holder. In the last championship I was able to “study” at Albergati, who struck me with the balance and tranquility he was able to instill in the whole group. From the top of his experience he was able to keep the team united, being able to easily manage those moments of difficulty that would have sent any other player down. I tried to make this characteristic mine, as well as that of varying the shots to create unpredictability in the opposing defenses”.
