Joint training between the two teams from the Marche region, old adversaries in previous Serie A3 championships, took place today at 5.30pm. Volley Banca Macerata proved to be a match for Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina, which plays in the A2 championship, and returns home with a 2-2 “draw” at the end of the four sets agreed upon by the two coaches. In the first part of the training we saw the starting six of the red and whites and were able to take the double advantage, while in the last two sets coach Castellano as always gave space to the rest of the roster, who still knew how to keep up with an opponent as good as Grottazzolina.

The test immediately started well for Volley Banca Macerata who, after gaining the advantage, escaped with a 16-9 lead and managed it well, closing 25-18; the second set was more balanced, with the two teams remaining neck and neck chasing each other, then the red and whites succeeded in the final break, 25-21. Different changes for both teams in the remaining two sets, in the third another escape from Volley Banca Macerata but this time the hosts manage to overturn it in the final and shorten the double disadvantage, 19-25. Grottazzolina grows in the fourth set, forcing the red and whites to chase: coach Castellano’s boys shorten but have to surrender with the same result, 19-25. The good performance of Volley Banca Macerata remains, two weeks after the championship debut in A3.
