The last of the four days of the 2023 Trento Sports Festival was tinged even more with the Italian flag thanks to Trentino Volley. In the early afternoon the S. Chiara Auditorium in Trento, packed in every seating order, hosted one of the most awaited events of the entire pink schedule, the one in which the Italian champions of the men’s Itas Trentino met together for the first time this season to present itself to the fans and the many enthusiasts who have populated the city’s squares and theaters in recent days.
The opportunity was provided by the “Trento Tricolore” talk: three quarters of an hour of shows hosted by Gian Luca Pasini (historical signature of the Gazzetta dello Sport regarding volleyball) to talk about the volleyball phenomenon in this area. Before bringing the fourteen faces of the new men’s roster onto the stage (which will make their championship debut in a week in Cisterna di Latina) there was space to talk about how Trento has become the capital of volleyball and how much it has contributed to the recent successes of the Italian national team, also through the words of Emanuele Birarelli and, subsequently, of the Italian coach Ferdinando De Giorgi.
“The victory of the last scudetto was a truly beautiful story for this club and for this city – explained Birarelli -: I think it will be remembered for a long time. I can’t help but think of Kaziyski for how he was able to bond with the younger kids and for what he represented in Trentino Volley’s many other successes. The conquest of the first Italian title in 2008 opened a cycle for this reality; no one thought that after that success we could line up so many others also because winning is always easier than confirming”.
“Trentino Volley is one of those clubs that offers a lot to the national team – underlined De Giorgi -; here there are many interesting guys who grow in level every day by playing important matches. I’m not just talking about the players who are already in the Italian league, but also about those who can get there like Laurenzano and Magalini, very interesting young players, and then Rychlicki became Italian and Cavuto who has already been with us.”
The first part of the talk mainly featured the three Italian champions. “The victory of the Scudetto in May gave us great awareness and self-esteem – admitted Daniele Lavia -. After a fluctuating season and with some avoidable defeats, we changed gear thanks to the success in game 5 of the Play Off semi-final.
