WiMORE Salsomaggiore is pleased to announce the promotion to the first team of middle blocker Leonardo Conforti, who last season played in the Under 17 Regional ranks. Born on May 3, 2007 in Parma and 195 centimeters tall, Conforti played football until the age of 14 and only since December 2021 has he concentrated exclusively on volleyball, where, despite his young age, he is already gaining a lot of satisfaction: he boasts a participation in the Under 15 Regional Final Four, a call-up to the Enlarged Italy Club and the last Trophy of the Regions of Campobasso, in which he was one of the fixed points of the Emilia Romagna Regional Representative which finished in sixth place. Now the leap to Serie A3 confirms his enormous potential. “Already being called up to Serie A was wonderful, I didn’t expect it. I will certainly have a lot to learn even during training.”
What will be the next steps to improve?
“First of all, I would say the attack both in terms of power and technique but, in general, I can improve in all fundamentals. What I do best so far is the wall that I was able to further refine this year also in the Regional Selection”.
What does the square of Parma represent for you?
“It’s a good club, I liked the fact that they also focused on young players. But here we work well right from the lowest brackets: in the Under 15s there was a coach like Pietro Scarduzio who has played on prestigious stages and I will never stop thanking Matteo Meli, with whom I have matured so much”.
Have you already talked to your peer Monica?
“First of all, we complimented each other and then we already know that we will have to work hard to keep up with our more experienced teammates. Of the others, I know Zecca personally, it will be a pleasure to train with him”.
Who is your role model?
“Simon is very strong, I think he is an inspiration for all centre-backs. But, leaving aside my role, I also admire Giannelli and Michieletto”.
What is the dream in the drawer?
“I would like to keep improving and play against competitive teams. If I give my all in a game, that’s enough for me to be happy. Regardless of the end result.”
