WiMORE Salsomaggiore is happy to announce the arrival of setter Giacomo Leoni, who last season played for Maury’s Com Cavi Tuscania until December and then Gruppo Stamplast M2G Green Bari, both of which landed in the Play Offs of the national Serie championship A3 Credem Bank. Born on October 9, 1995 in Genoa, he grew up in the youth sector of the Ligurian club then the three years at Club Italia between B2 and B1, the first transfer to Tuscania in A2, the experiences as deputy in SuperLega in Padua and Ravenna then Massa and Alessano again in A2, the return to Tuscania in the newborn A3, the parenthesis among the cadets in Civita Castellana and the last two years between Pineto, Portomaggiore, Tuscania and Bari always in the third category of the Italian men’s volleyball championship. Now the choice of WiMORE Salsomaggiore, in which he will cover the dual role of director and guide, above all, for less experienced companions at these levels. “Few clubs like Parma have the courage to get involved and trust the young athletes of their territory. It is certainly a stimulus to be one of the most experienced and to be able to lend a hand, what convinced me is the sustainable project to build something also with a view to the future”.
What is your opinion of Serie A3?
“It’s a strange category, I’ve had the pleasure of trying my hand at Serie A3 since the first season: it has evolved a lot over the years and competitiveness has risen in an emblematic way. The Blue Group was a complicated championship that never lets you breathe, there were no mattress teams and each one can have its say”.
What will your goals be?
“The minimum objective is salvation to give a sense of continuity to the investment made last year by the company. It will be the field that will make us understand if it can be calm or fought to the last, then everything that will come in addition so much the better.”
What do you promise to the fans?
“I prefer not to make promises, the role of “hen” stimulates me and the talk of trying to help my teammates grow both from a technical point of view and from a character and personality point of view. More than a guide, I would like to be of help in times of need, since I already had this experience a few years ago, having someone more experienced who can advise or reassure you is always important”.
