A.S. Volley Lube announces the engagement with an annual contract of Matheus Motzo, a Sardinian opposite of 192 cm in height from the year at Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce. Born in Brazil on 9 September 1999 in Sao Caetano Do Sul, the athlete is an Italian citizen and grew up in Oristano.
Brazilian blood in his veins and the typical Sardinian tenacity for a player making his debut in the Superlega Credem Banca championship after having stood out for several years in the A2 tournament. Among his strengths, tactical flexibility, concreteness in attacking blows and a lot of personality in crucial moments stand out.
His growth in volleyball took place in the Club Italia, where he played for four seasons. Motzo has become one of the most applauded athletes in A2 thanks to the three years in Cantù for having climbed on the podium of the best scorers of the Regular Season playing the opposite role after a first season in the band. The sum of the points scored by Motzo in the magic two-year period from 2020/21 to 2021/22 in 45 races was 922 seals. No opposite in the category has been able to keep up their pace in that time frame. In 2022/23 Matheus faced a fruitful experience in Tuscany closing the first phase as the third most prolific athlete. Matheus was also able to shine with the U21 Youth National Team , returning from the Bahrain World Cup with silver in 2019. His personal medal collection also includes a gold at the EYOF U19 Youth Olympics and silver at the U18 European Championships, achievements dated 2017.
