After the clear victory in the debut against Leo Shoes Casarano, ErmGroup San Giustino suffered a 0-3 defeat at Villa d’Agri against Rinascita Lagonegro. A result that is difficult to digest, especially when two out of three sets had a close outcome. And so, in such circumstances we always try to take the classic “half full” side of the glass, becoming aware of what didn’t work best in order to make the most of it. The analysis of the wrong Sunday in the words of sporting director Valdemaro Gustinelli, who undoubtedly tastes bitter: “We returned from this trip with a handful in our hands – he says – because it wasn’t what we expected. It is a lying 0-3, by the same admission of the president of the local club, Nicola Carlomagno, to whom all our thanks go for the exquisite welcome, for the availability and for the courtesy in the two days spent in Lucania, but still a 0-3 remains. Clearly, we hadn’t won the championship the other Sunday in our home opener, just as we weren’t relegated after the defeat at Villa d’Agri. Our objective continues to be to do better than last season, in which – I remember – we placed ninth, out of the play-offs. It was a battle of almost two hours and this says a lot about the balance of the race; the momentum turned at the end of the first set: there we played everything, we were ahead 23-21 and with the ball to go to 24, instead we found ourselves in an amen at 23-35. Nonetheless, we got off to a good start in the second half, going ahead 5-1, but it was clear that something had cracked in the boys’ confidence: 19 errors in service are a sign of little serenity and the demonstration of the fact that the team was unable to vary one’s attitude during the work”. There is nothing left to do, therefore, but to start again with our heads down and prepare for the new journey to Modica, where we await a response from the team also on a character level. “We started again from the gym, knowing that there is a lot to work and grow, but also that there is the right material to do it.
