The spiker born in 2004 enriches the white and red attacking department and, despite this being his first experience in Serie A3, he already boasts a career full of satisfactions. Originally from Montoro in the Province of Avellino, Penna arrives in Macerata in 2018 to join Lube Volley and in Civitanova he follows the youth team making his debut, however, also with the first team. He trains with the greats and in the meantime earns a call-up to the national team; last year he was the protagonist with the under 20 blue shirt: he won gold at the European Youth Festival (EYOF) 2022, a youth tournament hosted in Slovakia, then he won the European Championship by overcoming Poland in the final held in Abruzzo. This year he returns to Macerata to get involved in Serie A3, alongside expert and quality teammates who will be able to help him grow further.
Gaetano Penna already knows the city and the building, “At the Med Store Tunit I meet the Banca Macerata Forum where I often trained and the athletic trainer Gianluca Paolorosso, who was my coach. The club already looked for me last season, I’m happy this year to have accepted the offer; I know that Med Store Tunit is an ambitious team, which aims at important goals”. Speaking of goals, what do you set yourself in view of your new experience in Serie A3? “Help the team to get as high as possible. I know that here I can grow again, I want to do well and eat up the field. I will train with experienced players, in particular I know Lazzaretto, we met in a friendly match a couple of years ago, he plays in the same position as me and I know he will be able to help me during the season. In the meantime, I also spoke to coach Castellano, we are both from Campania and we immediately got along, I can’t wait to get started”.
