Rana Verona extends the positive streak, scoring the fourth consecutive victory thanks to the 3 to 1 achieved against Gioiella Prisma Taranto in the first match of the second round. The start of the match was Apulian in character, but the home team’s response was not long in coming, especially thanks to Amin’s shots. Taranto puts its face forward again, then the match returns to balance, with the guests holding a one-point lead. We play point by point, then Cortesia’s block unlocks the match in favor of Verona. After some uncertainty upon returning to the pitch, Verona turned on the turbo and built a considerable advantage over their opponents, thanks to a long series of serves from Dzavoronok. The Scala team leave Lanza and his teammates no chance and lead 2-0 without any major difficulties. The team led by Travica tries to react at the beginning of the third set, managing to lead the yellow-blues by four points. Sala takes center stage on serve and allows the Apulians to increase their lead. Verona tries to get back on track, but Gutierrez reopens the game. Stoytchev’s team returns with the right determination and in the first part of the quarter manages to create a gap on the guests. Verona takes off and for Taranto the hopes of resuming the match diminish. Verona drops the winning ace with the entry of Mosca, a fundamental block. The contribution of Dzavoronok is still precious, author of 5 aces which earned him the second consecutive MVP title. Amin’s performance also deserves applause, capable of scoring 19 points with 64% in attack, while Cortesia made 5 winning blocks. On the opposite front, Gutierrez was the best of his team with 17 points and 2 aces.
