Still together, as they have been for 22 years now. Volley Savigliano is pleased to announce that also in the 2023/24 sports season Damiano Calcagno will be part of the roster engaged in Serie A3 Credem Banca.
Born in 1996, Damiano is the longest-lived in the white and blue shirt of all the players available to coach Simeon. Saviglianese doc, he entered the gym, in fact, at only five years of age, never leaving it again and always wearing the shirt of his city’s team, with which he has achieved important results, over the course of more than two decades. Among these, a second place in the Under 14 region and the conquest of promotion to Serie C, which took place in 2018 after five years of militancy in D, stand out.
After five years in the club’s second team, of which he had also become captain, since 2022 he has instead been an integral part of the A3 group, with which in the last year, lived in the role of opposite, he also put his first five on the scoresheet points in the third national series, among which the two aces on the last day of the regular season stand out.
“I was born and raised in this club and when I was asked to stay for next season I had no doubts. – explains Calcagno – This year we know it will be difficult, because we will be called to confirm ourselves after a great season. There will be new arrivals and we will have to be good at creating a good group, which was the key last season. Personally, last season wasn’t easy due to the jump in category but this season I have the opportunity to return to my band role and therefore be able to express myself at my best. I will work to help my teammates during the week and to be ready when called upon. The personal goal is certainly to improve further”.
