The youth sector of Emma Villas Volley has reached and surpassed the record number of 100 players in the various formations this season. “This increase in the number of youngsters in our teams is an element that obviously pleases us a lot – comments the technical director of the youth sector of Emma Villas Volleyball, Alessandro Fammelume. – This testifies to the fact that we are carrying out our work well and profitably. The boys already present get on well and others are added. This happens in a city that traditionally does not have a volleyball vocation. Obviously the increasing numbers create logistical and organizational problems at the level of gyms and technicians that are never enough, there would be a need to increase these numbers. We are working to offer young people ever better quality structures and work equipment. We are close to 110 boys in various formations. After forty years of experience in the sector, I can say that I know that if you work in a certain way, volleyball becomes attractive, beautiful to practice and therefore the kids get closer. In addition, the boost from the Superlega has certainly brought a pinch of enthusiasm, the champions of all the strongest teams in Italy arrive at the PalaEstra and this attracts”.
Halfway through the season, we can take stock of the year for the various formations in the youth sector: “We have covered all age groups – are Fammelume’s words – and in some leagues, such as for the Under 17s, we have two teams . In all tournaments we are qualified for the territorial semi-finals with a good chance of accessing the final which would then allow us to move on to the regional phase as well. And this is in any case a goal that we have set ourselves to compete with important companies in other Tuscan provinces. In the regional championships that we are playing, our formations are in their first experience. The Serie C team is fighting to save itself, however it is occupying a good position with a few points ahead of the hottest area of the table. The Serie D team is battling to enter the promotion playoffs, for the moment we are in it and we hope to achieve this goal “.
