The New Mater Volley Castellana Grotte renews itself and begins to formalize the news in view of the 2023/2024 season and the next national championship of the A2 series Credem Banca of men’s volleyball entrusts Simone Cruciani with the technical guidance of the first team.
The almost 37-year-old Umbrian technician (he was born in Spoleto on 16 August 1986) will be the coach of the Castellanese team who is preparing to experience a year of great changes. Already second to Siena in the Superlega last year and before that (in 2020/2021) coach of Portomaggiore in the A3 series, Cruciani also followed a path passed by the three years with Siena from 2015 to 2018 in the A2 series (concluded precisely with the promotion in Superlega as second), the experiences in B with San Donà di Piave and Portomaggiore and the long process in the staff of the blue national teams enhanced by World (in 2019 with the pre junior) and European (in 2020 with the pre junior and in 2022 with the under 22).
“Since mid-August I’ve been diving into what I consider to be a professional experience with great expectations – commented Cruciani at the end of a couple of weeks spent in Puglia – I arrive in a land with a great volleyball history and great culture, both as regards Serie A and as regards the youth sector. For me it is a great honor to hold this position and I am certainly grateful to those who have thought of me. In recent weeks we have worked with Bruno De Mori and Giuseppe Barbone in total harmony and in close contact. I knew I’d find people with experience and availability and I must say that this impression was confirmed”.
There is anticipation, in a summer that opens up to a new course for New Mater Volleyball, also for the officialization of the roster of the first team which will arrive between Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th at the end of the Volleyball Market in Bologna.
“We have built a coaching and trainable team, with young traction with very ambitious guys, athletes who however have already appeared on significant and important stages – Cruciani specified – We have also included a more expert figure in the role of opposite who we hope will be able to as a guide for our boys”.
