Stephen Maar will be one of the reference hammers of Vero Volley Monza also in the 2023/2024 season. The rossoblù’s best scorer in the last sporting season, powerful in attack, devastating in service (43 personal aces, even 7, of which 6 only in the third set, in the victory against Civitanova) and effective blocking (43), will try to push his as deep as possible not only in Italy, in SuperLega Credem Banca, but also in Europe, in the CEV Challenge Cup (a competition already won with Milan in 20/21).

Maar’s first experience in the Vero Volley shirt ended successfully, both in terms of performance and numbers. The hitter born in Scarborough, born in ’94, became the protagonist of a superlative season, which allowed him to improve not only the previous best in points (484, against 473 on 21/22 with Cisterna), but he is also in the ace (43, top figure was 40 again last year in Lazio) and in the attack percentage (48.4 against the 46.2 achieved with Top Volley).

For him, who grew up at McMaster University from 2012 to 2016, it will be the seventh season overall in the top Italian category, the fourth in a row after his spell in Russia with Dinamo Moscow in 2019/2020. Victorious also with the Canadian national team, which he has successfully represented since 2016 (four bronze medals, including two at the Norceca 2017 and 2019, one at the 2016 Pan-American Cup and one at the 2017 World League), Maar has also won important personal awards, again as best hitter as well as best scorer (in the North American qualifiers at Tokyo 2020 he won both).
