Vero Volley Monza bets, for the second season in a row, on Gabriele Di Martino. The Roman middle blocker born in 1997, despite some small physical ailments during the journey that didn’t see him on the field regularly, played 28 games and 66 sets in the last sporting year, scoring 81 points including 7 aces and 19 blocks. For Di Martino, however one of the protagonists of the ride that led the Lombard club to qualify for the CEV Challenge Cup 2024, this is the seventh consecutive season in the top flight, after those experienced with Piacenza, Sora and Taranto.

Among the qualities of Vero Volley’s centre-back, very solid in blocks and in attack (his best performance of the season was 14 points against Civitanova in the Marche region on the fourth return day of the regular season) where he finished with 57.9% ( third best percentage of his career in SuperLega after 59.9% on 21/22 with Taranto and 60% on 17/18 with Piacenza), there is also an excellent float serve, often a useful result in Monza to create situations of break.

In blue Di Martino made his debut with the senior representative last year, precisely on 25 May 2022 in the friendly match played in Cavalese between Italy and Bulgaria (2-3), then winning a Bronze medal at the Mediterranean Games in 2022 (for Oran, Algeria). With the national youth teams of Italy, of which he did the whole process, however, he obtained a silver medal at the 2015 pre-Junior European Championship in a central pair with Gianluca Galassi, his current teammate in Monza together with Thomas Beretta.
