WiMORE Salsomaggiore announces that it has promoted Filippo Monica to the first team, who will play the free role on a permanent basis from next season. Born on 15 May 2007 in Parma and 185 centimeters tall, he began playing as a spiker in Galaxy Volley Collecchio at the age of eleven then in the summer of 2021 he moved to Energy Volley Parma in the Under 15s from where he is continuing to burn milestones: at a youth level, in fact, he has three participations in the Regional Final Four (two in the Under 15s, one in the Under 17s which in the last year has prepared him for the big leap), the call-up to the Club Italia Enlarged and, recently, the one at the Trophy of the Regions of Campobasso, in which he was used as a libero in the ranks of the Emilia Romagna Regional Representative, contributing to the final sixth place. The farewell in the band is therefore not exactly a bolt from the blue. “I had already had the thought of becoming free for some time due to my not-so-excellent stature and when it was offered to me in December with the Regional Selection I immediately accepted willingly. This role has always fascinated me, defending and, if necessary, setting up from the second row doesn’t bother me at all.”

How did you welcome promotion to the first team?

“It was a big surprise, playing in Serie A3 in Parma was one of my goals but I didn’t expect to reach it so soon.”

What do you expect from next season?

“I’m quite happy to find myself with so many young players in the team, I’ll try to carefully observe the more experienced players in training and in matches because I know I still have a lot to improve. It won’t be an easy year but we have the potential to improve all together. And it’s nice that the club has decided to reward and enhance the local kids”.

How will having Mint as a wardmate affect you?

“Zecca is a friend of mine, I got to know him better before he was called up to A3. The fact that you play in the same position as me will certainly be an extra help.”
