The end of the regular season is approaching for Pool Libertas Cantù, and on Saturday 9 March 2024 at 8.30 pm there will be the last evening advance. Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso’s boys will take the field at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Porto Viro against the hosts Delta Group. The Portovirenses have indeed come from a defeat (3-1 in Santa Croce), but the last match lost within friendly walls dates back to the first day back, when Consar Ravenna won in a tie-break.

Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso presents the challenge like this: “Sunday’s victory gave us a nice boost of enthusiasm that we had been missing for a while. We absolutely want to continue in this vein and enjoy the end of the regular season in the best possible way. Porto Viro is a complicated pitch, with a lot of fans and a good crowd, and a very experienced team that is fighting for the Play Off placement. They will certainly want to make up for the last defeat, but we want to make their life complicated. We’re going to play it with free arm starting from the serve, continue to push on the progress on the block, and maybe raise the level a little further in the development of our game. We want to end the regular season as high as possible, and therefore we will play every game head-on from now until the end.”

THE OPPONENTS

On the Delta Group bench sits Daniele Morato, last season at Agnelli Tipiesse Bergamo but one of the most successful coaches in the youth sector of the Diavoli Rosa di Brugherio. In the control room we find one of the most expert setters in the category, the confirmed Fernando Gabriel Garnica. Opposite is the very young (born in 2005) and very long (212cm) Tommaso Barotto, from the Diavoli Rosa Brugherio school. The spikers are also the two former players of the day: the confirmed Felice Sette and Nicola Tiozzo, who arrived in the summer after two years at BCC Castellana Grotte. Central player Matteo Zamagni also comes from the Apulian team, while his teammate, Rocco Barone, is in his third consecutive season with the Portoviresi team. The libero is Davide Morgese, last season at Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce after eight championships at Conad Reggio Emilia.
