Night of European emotions for Massimo Eccheli’s Mint Vero Volley Monza, on court tomorrow, Wednesday 21 February, at 5.30 pm, at the Toward Hall COS, for the first leg final of the CEV Challenge Cup 2024, against the Polish team Projekt Warszawa. Both matches of the Finals will be live on DAZN.
Having obtained the pass for the last act of the third most important continental competition, the Monza team are motivated to give their all to face their second final in the competition with determination, generosity and character after the one lost in 2019 against Belgorod. Fresh from a brilliant period in the championship where, in the last three outings, there were victories against Piacenza and Milan away and Catania at home, Monza wants to return to excitement and emotion, trying to field that beautiful volleyball capable of giving it not only many joys during the season, but also and above all a flawless journey in the Challenge Cup. There were eight consecutive successes in the competition thanks to a series of solid and positive performances. A streak that Eccheli’s team, already confident of a place in the Scudetto Play Offs of the Credem Banca SuperLega (the last two days will define the final position in the ranking), wants to retrace in Europe to facilitate the return match on February 29th in Italy which gives away the trophy.
On the other side of the net, however, there will be a team, the Polish team from Warsaw, which has proven to be a really tough nut to crack. The team led by coach Graban started with the elimination inflicted on the Slovenians of Calcit Kamnik in the Round of 32 (double 3-0). Warsaw’s journey continued with the double victory over French side Saint-Nazaire in the round of 16 (3-0 in the first leg, 1-3 in France), over Romanians Dinamo Bucharest in the quarter-finals (3-0 home and away). The Polish club then also won the Semi-final against the Finnish AKAA Volley, easily ensuring access to the final stage of the competition.
