Just over a day of rest for the boys of CUS Cagliari who, having returned today from the trip to Salsomaggiore, are immediately ready to leave for the midweek Italian Cup match.

A coveted challenge, sought after and arrived with fourth place in the championship at the end of the first round and which will now, finally, allow Ammendola and his boys to make their debut in another national event in the first year of Serie A3.

Happening in a busy week, the Cup trip adds to the championship trip last Sunday which saw the university team come out on top on the WiMORE Salsomaggiore pitch with a limited performance but which made the fans smile again.

CUS, after having reconfirmed the fourth place which allowed them to gain the pass, arrives energized for the Cup match and is preparing to sell their lives dearly in the one-off match valid for the quarter-finals and access to the Final Four. The match will be staged at the Pala Sguaitzer in Mantua on Wednesday 10th at 8.30pm, with live broadcast on the League Volleyball Youtube channel as usual.

Roberto Meriggioli, Sporting Director of the Sardinians introduced Wednesday’s match like this:

“We have earned the chance to play in the Final Four of the Italian Cup and we will go to Mantua fierce, trying to do everything we can to get a result. At the beginning of the year the Cup was not among the objectives but once we gained access we decided to play it all the way and honor the prestige of this competition. By Wednesday we should recover Calarco after two rounds in which he wasn’t at his best and have the full squad again after some physically difficult weeks.

Getting to the Final Four would be an excellent result but we know how tiring these trips are: the week is very busy with travel and competitions and we will have to be good at managing our energy also for next Sunday’s match when we will challenge Acqui Terme at home.”
