Just over two weeks until the key event of 2024 for world sport. The final preparations are underway for the XXXII Olympics scheduled in Paris from 26 July to 11 August and there will be five-circle emotions for five standard bearers of Sir Susa Vim Perugia.
The various participating national federations have in fact defined, naturally remaining with men’s volleyball, the rosters that will participate in the greatest global sporting event and that will hunt for medals. These are the last days of preparation for the national selections before leaving for Paris and the emotion of the Olympics rises very high for the Italians Simone Giannelli and Roberto Russo, for the Polish Kamil Semeniuk, for the Japanese Yuki Ishikawa and for the Argentine Agustin Loser.
Pool B in Paris for Italy, reigning world champions, who will have to face in their group Brazil (Saturday 27 July at 1.00 pm), Egypt (Tuesday 30 July at 9.00 am) and Poland (Saturday 3 August at 5pm).
Pool C instead for Japan and Argentina together with Germany and the United States. The match program sees the Japanese on the field on Saturday 27 July at 9:00 am against Germany and on Friday 2 August at 9:00 pm against the United States while the South Americans will face the United States on Saturday 27 July at 9:00 pm and Germany Friday 2 August at 9:00 am. The head-to-head clash between Ishikawa and Loser on Wednesday 31 July at 1pm.
The volleyball tournament sees three pools of four teams each in the preliminary phase. The top two from each Pool and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals.
The direct elimination phase will start on Monday 5 August with the quarter-finals. Wednesday 7 August will be the day of the two semi-finals, Friday 9 August will be played for bronze, and Saturday 10 August the final for Olympic gold.
PERUGIA’S OPPONENTS IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The teams registered for the 2024-2025 edition of the Champions League have been announced by the CEV, the highest continental body, a competition which will also see Sir Susa Vim Perugia in contention after a year of absence.
Eighteen teams have already entered the main draw, the last two will emerge from the four preliminary phases which will be held in September and October. The Block Devils will be seeded in the various pool draws. Together with Perugia in the first round also Monza, the Germans Berlin and the Polish teams Jastrzebski and Zawiercie. In the second tier there will be Milan, the Polish side Warsaw, the Turkish team Halkbank Ankara and the two German teams Giesen and Luneburg.
