With the team resuming its usual work at PalaBarton yesterday afternoon in view of its return to the Super League with Sunday’s trip to Piacenza, the 2024 edition of the Del Monte®Coppa Italia Final Four has definitively been put to rest.
An event with large numbers that attracted the attention of fans of great volleyball. The volleyball public responded with the presence of over sixteen thousand spectators at the Unipol Arena over the two days (7562 for the semi-finals, 9125 for the final) for over three hundred thousand euros in revenue (approximately one hundred and thirty-eight thousand euros on Saturday, one hundred and seventy-seven thousand euros on Sunday ).
Home viewing is also massive. Almost three hundred thousand spectators followed the final on Rai Due, almost four hundred thousand watched the two semi-finals overall on Raisport. To these must be added all those who watched the three matches in streaming, both on RaiPlay and on VBTV, the Volleyball World streaming platform which broadcasts the Super League all over the world. Without forgetting all the TV partners of the Serie A Volleyball League that broadcast the Italian Cup in various countries around the world.
Sir Susa Vim Perugia, as well as on the pitch and in the stands, also hit the jackpot with merchandising. The Juventus stand, inside the “Fan Zone” set up at the Unipol Arena, was literally stormed over the weekend in Bologna with fans looking for a t-shirt or gadget as a souvenir of the event.
Moving on to curiosities related to the taraflex, Sir Susa Vim, in addition to the Italian Cup and the MVP that ended up in the hands of Plotnytskyi, was the team that finished with the highest number of winning blocks (22), with the best offensive percentage ( 58% in the semi-final and 55% in the final), with the highest number of aces together in Monza (11). In attack, with at least ten balls attacked, Flavio’s performance in the final was the most prolific of the tournament (92% with 12 out of 13 in the first half) with Plotnytskyi (always with at least ten balls attacked) who was the best among the high-ball attackers (75% against Milan with 18 points out of 24 attacks), while central defender Sebastian Solè had the best performance of the tournament in the single block match (7 winners against Milan in the semi-final).
A splendid Del Monte®Coppa Italia Final Four therefore ends for Perugia who sew the tricolor cockade onto their chest. Now it’s time to continue the seasonal journey in the Super League.
