Gioiella Prisma Taranto Volley is pleased to announce its first new purchase for the upcoming season, the central Roamy Alonso, Cuban (from Matanzas) born in ’97, 202 cm. With a career that began in Cuban amateur tournaments, Alonso quickly rose through the ranks of world volleyball, becoming a respected presence both nationally and internationally.
After signing his first professional contract in 2019-20 and playing in the Italian Super League with Porto Robur Costa Ravenna, Alonso took his talents to France, where he played for Chaumont, winning a French Cup and a French Super Cup. He returned to Italy in the 2022-23 season with Gas Sales You Energy Piacenza, winning the Italian Cup, where he played until the end of the season just concluded.
His experience with the Cuban national team is equally impressive, with medals and accolades highlighting his skill and commitment. Alonso demonstrated his leadership and versatility on the pitch, contributing to notable victories such as gold at the NORCECA Final Six 2022, where he was awarded the best player and best center back awards.
With his talent and determination, Roamy Alonso declares himself ready to bring his winning contribution to Gioiella Prisma Taranto Volley, ready to shine in the city of the two seas.
