After the satisfaction of the Italian Cup won as a setter for Cucine Lube Civitanova and a championship that ended only in the Scudetto Final, setter Mattia Boninfante lived the first week of the VNL with enthusiasm, making his debut with the jersey of the Italian Senior National Team in an official event.
In the space of a few months, you took the measure of the SuperLega in the Lube jersey and made your debut in the National Team. Full of emotions?
Boninfante: “For me, this is a satisfying year, full of steps. Having a lot of space in the top division has gratified me a lot, but also the visceral emotions that you feel when you wear the blue jersey and represent Italy are truly intense.
Did you feel welcomed by the blue group?
“I immediately felt at ease. It must be said that I already knew most of the guys, not just the Lube teammates. I’ve even been in touch with some of them for many years, so the integration was easy and natural. After all, in the Italian volleyball team I’ve only met kind and friendly people, who are nice to work with and spend time in the gym with”.

“I’m pleased! I was called into question and I gave my all, trying to provide a good contribution to the group. We were good as a team in Quebec to face the tough moments together. There were some, but we overcame most of them by winning three out of four games.
