Vero Volley Monza secured its second consecutive victory, following their home success against Cucine Lube Civitanova a few days ago. They repeated their feat away from home today, winning 3-1 against Sonepar Padova. The Monza team dominated the match from the start, but were forced to concede a comeback from the home team (led by Masulovic’s 33 points), who managed to tie the set at 1-1.
The third set, however, was a success for Massimo Eccheli’s team, who managed to win on deuce. Beretta and his teammates celebrated at the end of the fourth set, rising to 10 points in the standings, temporarily occupying eighth place, their last remaining position ahead of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Quarterfinals. Worthy of note was the performance of Monza’s opposite hitter, Krisztian Padar, who scored 32 points.
