A solemn day among the highest authorities of the State for the three Cucine Lube Civitanova players who a few days ago lifted the World Cup in the Philippines wearing the jersey of the Italian national team. This afternoon, Fabio Balaso, Mattia Bottolo, and Giovanni Gargiulo were received with the Italian men’s and women’s volleyball teams by President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale Palace.
The Italian men and women, accompanied by their respective staffs, CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio, General Secretary Carlo Mornati, and Federal President Giuseppe Manfredi, were welcomed inside the Quirinale Palace. Also present in the audience was Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi.
Handshakes, solemn words, love and respect for sport. The Head of State was keen to congratulate the volleyball players who secured a historic, close double world championship. “You were formidable,” Mattarella’s compliment echoed throughout the Ballroom, “thank you again for the emotions you conveyed. You were passionately supported by all Italians, from across the country!”
