Cesare Pellegrino receives the San Giorgio d’Oro 2025 Anassilaos: a life for volleyball between emotions and new goals

Reggio Calabria – A prestigious award crowns the career of a figure who has marked the history of Reggio, Calabria and national volleyball: Cesare Pellegrino, current sports director of Domotek Volley Reggio Calabria, will be awarded the San Giorgio d’Oro 2025.

The Anassilaos Cultural Association, chaired by Stefano Iorfida, will award the prize on Thursday 24 April at 5:30 pm, at the “Federica Monteleone” Hall of the Regional Council of Calabria, in Reggio Calabria.

The honor comes to seal a brilliant career, made of commitment, passion and results that have left a mark on the sports scene. Pellegrino retraced his beginnings as a young man in Reggio Calabria, before moving to Loreto, in the Marche region, in the late 1970s. “I thank my parents, who had the courage to send me so far from home,” he said with gratitude.

As an athlete, he collected successes such as the CEV Cup final and call-ups to the youth national team, Juniores, Under 23 and finally to the A national team, raising the name of Italy and his city.
