Sviluppo Sud Catania announces a new signing: Francesco Cottarelli, a highly experienced and talented setter, will lead the Catania team in the 2025/26 Serie A2 season.
Born in 1996 and originally from Verona, Cottarelli began his career in the BluVolley youth teams, debuting as a spiker before finding his true calling as a setter. After two seasons with Isola in Serie B2, he made his Superleague debut with Piacenza, where he played for three seasons. He subsequently played in the top division with Padova (2018-2019) and Prisma Taranto.
Cottarelli’s return, albeit in a unique way, can be described as a “double return,” considering he played one season with Saturnia Aci Castello in 2022 and another, in 2024, with Palmi, where he also won the Coppa Italia and the Serie A3 Super Cup.
Last season, he wore the Cantù jersey, but he’s eager to embark on this new adventure, which is also why Francesco Cottarelli hasn’t stopped training for the new season.
