Five Modena Volley players will be competing at the 2025 World Championship, which will be held in the Philippines from today until September 28.

Representing Italy, the reigning champion after their 2022 success, are middle blocker Simone Anzani and spiker Luca Porro. The Azzurri, drawn in Pool F, will debut against Algeria on Sunday, September 14th, before facing Belgium on Tuesday the 16th and Ukraine on Thursday the 18th (all matches kicking off at 3:30 PM). Giovanni Sanguinetti, however, was not included in the list of 14 players and will now have a few days’ rest before later joining coach Alberto Giuliani’s team.

In addition to the two Italian players, Libyan opposite hitter Ahmed Ikhbayri, Brazilian spiker Arthur Bento, and Argentine setter Matias Giraudo will also be playing. Libya will play in Pool G with Japan, Canada, and Turkey; Brazil in Pool H with Serbia, Czech Republic and China and Argentina in Pool C with France, Finland and South Korea.
