Viridex Sabaudia finished the first half of the season in fourth place and secured a spot in the Coppa Italia Serie A3. The team from Pontine will play the quarterfinals in a one-off match on the weekend of January 10-11, away to BCC Tecbus Castellana Grotte, the team that finished first in the Blue Group. The other match in the draw will be between Domotek Reggio Calabria and EnergyTime Campobasso. The winners will advance to the next round of the Italian championship.
“It’s a modest satisfaction, because we would have liked to secure our spot in the Coppa Italia directly on the pitch, without having to wait for the results of the other matches,” admits sporting director Paolo Torre. “But we still have the honor of playing in the quarterfinals against the team that was the revelation of the first half of the season: this is a satisfaction for the club and the players, even though we would have liked to enter through the front door and not on the final day, which unfortunately didn’t see us shine.”
