An exciting playoff series, a record crowd and a team that never gave up despite the difficulties. Sergio Vandir Dal Pozzo, assistant coach of Domotek Volley, after the last, dramatic match of the quarterfinals, with a team that gritted its teeth against everyone and everything, draws a balance of a season that exceeded all expectations.
“I would start with the crowd in Reggio Calabria – record numbers for the championship – and a tough playoff series. Did it go badly? Yes, but when you think about it with a cool head, you have to look at the whole year: it was truly beautiful”, begins Vandir Dal Pozzo. “These three challenges were great, two teams that wanted to move forward. We had three important injuries in the playoffs, but no excuses: the boys showed they are a real team, everyone gave their contribution until the end”.
The defeat stings, especially after having come close to winning away: “It’s a shame, because in the first match at their home we were ahead 2-0, then we lost that third set in the tie-break. The match was spectacular anyway, with some changes due to the circumstances, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough”.
