José Miguel Gutierrez took his first steps in the red and white, having undergone various physical tests this morning at the PalabancaSport before his first weight training session.

A spiker born in Santa Croce (Cuba) in 2001, José Miguel Gutierrez is in his fourth season in Italy after playing in Cisterna, Taranto, and Modena.

In 2022, he made his debut for the senior Cuban national team at the Norceca Final Four, where he won a gold medal, followed by another gold medal at the Norceca Final Six. He also won a gold medal at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games and the Best Spiker Award at the 2023 Pan American Cup. He participated with the Cuban national team at the World Championships currently being held in the Philippines.

José Miguel Gutierrez: “I already know Piacenza as a city. I have many friends here, and I’m really happy to be able to play in Piacenza. The team is certainly strong, but the important thing will be to always be united; I think that’s the most important thing in a team. The World Cup went as it did, and I’m really looking forward to starting playing with my new teammates. I expect a lot of satisfaction from this experience for all of us.”
