Sviluppo Sud Catania, the Catania-based team that took its name after the change of ownership of Saturnia Acicastello, begins the preparatory phase for the new season, which will see it compete in the Serie A2 men’s volleyball championship.
The first step is the new coaching staff, led by head coach Paolo Montagnani, who led Saturnia Acicastello in the second half of last season.
Montagnani’s appointment as coach fits perfectly into Sviluppo Sud Catania’s ambitious and structured plan, which aims to consolidate its presence in the national volleyball scene, competing at the highest levels and establishing itself increasingly in the Etna region.
“When President Pino Carbone entrusted me with the role of sporting director,” explains Massimo D’Onofrio, “and the task of building this new team, the first person I thought of as coach was Paolo Montagnani: a coach I’ve known for a long time, with whom I’ve often compared myself on the pitch, in various situations, championships, and seasons. I have profound respect for him and am convinced he’s the best choice to lead this new project that is about to begin.”
