Consar’s first away game of the new season coincides with their last trip last year, to the Banca Macerata Forum, better known as the Fontescodella, where the second leg of the Coppa Italia round of 16 was played on April 12th. Tomorrow at 6:00 PM, two teams coming off a tie-break victory in their league opener will face off: Valentini’s team rallied from 0-2 down, recovering from a first-set loss to the Marche team in Catania on Monday night. A tough and demanding match awaits Goi and his teammates against Banca Macerata Fisiomed, who, with a nearly complete overhaul over the summer, have assembled a highly competitive roster and raised their technical level. Saverio Di Lascio, assistant coach of Consar, is well aware of this in his introduction to this match. Macerata was built to achieve excellent results. They have highly experienced players, including international ones, like the two Bulgarians Zhelev and Karyagin. They have a very well-rounded setter in Pedron, an opposite hitter in Novello, who is one of the best young Italians around, and two solid and strong middle blockers, Fall and Ambrose, who are of the highest caliber. A tough match awaits us: we’ll have to give 100% to secure a positive result and continue to grow.
