Simone Porro, setter for Emma Villas Codyeco Lupi Siena, is ready for the start of the World Championships. The Italy Under-19 team has landed in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and will compete in the World Championships for their age group starting Thursday, July 24th. This is a truly important experience for the young players in this group, coming after a long preparation period, first in training camp and then with a period in France. During this period, the Azzurri faced the French national team of the same age group three times in test matches, with two wins and one defeat.
The Italian team will debut on Thursday, July 24th against Poland. The Italians will then face Tunisia (July 25th), Egypt (July 26th), Spain (July 28th), and Iran (July 29th). Simone Porro, after a year spent in Reggio Emilia and his previous experiences with the U17 national team, with which he won a gold and a silver at the European Championships, will experience another formative moment in his career.
“I can’t wait to take part in this competition,” said Simone Porro before leaving for Tashkent to embark on his world adventure. “After playing in the European Championships as a team, this is our first experience at the intercontinental level. We’ve had a long preparation period, including interesting and positive friendlies, including very stimulating ones with the French national team in the category.
