The U21 World Championships in Jiangmen, China, will begin on Thursday, August 21, 2025, for two new signings from Campi Reali Cantù. Born in 2006, Gioele Adeola Taiwo and Nikolay Ivanov.
Italy is in Pool D alongside Indonesia, Ukraine, France, Tunisia, and Argentina, while Bulgaria will play in Pool C alongside Cuba, Japan, Colombia, the Czech Republic, and Brazil.
The two national teams must maintain, if not improve, on their results from the last edition, held in 2023 in Manama, Bahrain, where they won silver and bronze, respectively.
In the 22 editions played so far, the Azzurri have managed to win only one gold medal, in 2021 at the PalaPirastu in Cagliari, with Alessandro Michieletto being named MVP of the event. They also boast five silver medals (1985, 1991, 1993, 2019 and 2023) and two bronze medals (1995 and 2013).
