There’s something special in Georgi Tatarov’s eyes when he thinks back on his summer. A mix of pride, hard work, emotion, and that fire that only those who have experienced great matches can bring with them. For him, the summer of 2025 was an unforgettable chapter: Bulgaria won a historic World Cup silver medal, falling only in the final to Italy after an incredible run and an emotion destined to remain in everyone’s hearts.
“It was a very important summer for our national team,” says Georgi. “We had ups and downs, but I’m happy with how we finished. The moment I’ll never forget was the match against the United States. We were down 2-0, but we managed to turn the tables and win 3-2. It was pure adrenaline! And then… returning home, with so many people welcoming us in Sofia, was something magical.”

A summer of prominence, then. And yet, as soon as the World Cup adventure ended, Tatarov looked back toward Grottazzolina, his second home. “We had a few days off between national and club duties, just enough time to rest a bit,” he says. “Coming back here was natural: I already knew most of the guys and I immediately bonded with the new ones. I’m really happy to be back.”
