The jersey numbers that the Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina athletes will wear in the 2025-2026 Superleague season have been announced and made official. In volleyball, and now in all sports, personalizing one’s jersey number and choosing it becomes an important factor for every athlete, and behind each choice lies a very specific motivation, perhaps linked to a special event or simple superstition, an element that is still widespread in sports.
To the likes of Cubito (3), Vecchi (4), Fedrizzi (13), and Marchiani (15), now veterans at Grottazzolina and for whom the jersey number has almost become a tattoo on their skin, Petkovic was added last year, making the number 12 a permanent teammate since his first season as a professional, when he was just 14 years old and therefore absolutely indispensable. This year, too, sees the arrival of Falaschi and Stankovic, for whom the numbers 5 and 7, respectively, have become inseparable companions. “It’s a tradition that began almost by chance many years ago,” Stankovic reveals, “and has since been confirmed in the national team and throughout my long career in Italy. Lately, however, I’ve noticed that this number 7 appears often in my daily life, and it’s become my favorite and even a bit of luck.”
